Mr Myagi, K train,Cougar Bait, Cheese ,Shaggy, Matt the Perz Carr, Toot White are just a couple of the nick names the ASRA SUP Crew run with and yes going on the names they are one hell of a great bunch of people.
The day started with a coffee at Uncle Belly's local haunt pretty sure Uncle B is the unofficial Mayor of Rose Bay with every finger on the pulse of who's, who and what's going on in the Rose Bay community "YEEW" Belly you da man.
After setting up a waiting for the K train to arrive who was running late due to some urgent morning business we got the clinic underway.
With the south west wind up and some fun little bumps rolling into Rose Bay we had a great little play ground to practice our SUP technique and SUP skills.
The plan was to head across the bay and get out of the wind and do some extra technique stuff specific to down winding however the wind got the better of some of our crew and we decided to send them back to base.
A few of the more advanced crew did manage to get across the bay so after delivering one lot of crew safely back to Belly, I headed of to find the other crew that had got across to the other side. I'm not sure if its a military thing but for as much as I searched for the boys I couldn't find them and had me looking into the merky waters expecting some special forces Navy diver to expode from the depths and go for the tap out! thankfully they were all just hanging in the sun and shooting the shit (not literally, talking dude talking).
After a quick down wind clinic we paddled up the wall in the lea of the wind and out into the wind line stoping for a quick photo shoot with the crew with the Sydney Harbour Bridge as the back drop, then it was a quick scoot across the bay back to Belly's beach.
Back at Belly's, Couger Bait and K train had fire up the barbie and cooked up a feed fit for the troops nothing better that a BBQ after an icy paddle.
The clinic ended with us just hanging out talking crap and hanging shit on one another to much fun and was a privilege for me to hang with the ASRA crew.
But wait there's more, Being boys we were running little late due mainly verbal diarrhea and had to make a mad dash back to Paddington Barracks to evac Mr Myagi Wife to the rugby.
Later that evening we headed to the local Irish bar for a few Guinness pints and dinner which was again a laugh a miniute and eventful evening .
The K train should be on the comedy stage maybe linked up with the Belly with the most froth Belly.
I would like to give a very special mention to all of the ASRA Crew but with a VP mention to Matt Carr - we only meet Matt a couple of weeks prior to the Clinic when he was on holiday with his Wife in Noosa - I was given his book to read which is on the to do list after the wife has finished. The book is called Battle Scars and from what the wife says it is a great look into the life of a dedicated Solider.
Yeew!
Enjoy the ride
