Coreban in Fiji

Story from Fiji......

We managed to get our way on to the Navy boat for the day (no harm in asking) to follow the first Fiji downwinder!! We followed the entire race in comfort and greeted the winners at Namotu. There were some good photos on the Waterman website. We were also at the intercontinental the day before and met up with Tristan from the Waterman League. Good to also say hi briefly to Dave Kalama (seems to be a veryhumble person), Kai Lenny and Connor Baxter (both very young).

The winning time was about 3 hours 20 minutes for the 32 km race. Only about 14 competitors this year. We hope to get about 6 locals in the race next year (none this year) and we will certainly be having some Coreban boards in the race.

Tony is going to enter next year as well, the NZer that came 3rd was 43 years old, so there is hope for us oldies!!

Looking forward to 2012.

Regards, Andrew
